Harvard University has undertaken a comprehensive rehabilitation program for the housing properties serving the business school. D. W. Arthur Associates worked closely with the residential redevelopment and child care teams to integrate a new indoor and outdoor children's realm that re-envisions the 50 year old Soldiers Field Park Children's Center environment to support contemporary learning and development programs. The classrooms and enhancement spaces are organized on two floors around a central double-height core space that accommodates a variety of community activities. The design includes an open activity stair that incorporates stepped platform seating, a convertible performance space, a children's library, reading nooks, and other opportunities for gathering and exploration.
